Carter Mountain Wyoming

I got to take a tour of Carter Mountain at the end of July. The wild flowers were blooming on the very top of the mountain where the air was still crisp and cool. The sides of the roads, on the way up, looked like a deer and antelope nursery with so many young frisky babies running about.

The tour took place a few weeks before the escaped prisoner, from Arizona, was discovered in Meeteesee, WY. If you look at the Carter Mountain slide show you will see how remote and massive the Carter area is and how small our earth must really be if these folks came through this big county on their way to somewhere else.

Last weekend, I noticed, that Carter had a new dust of snow on it's top. I reckon it must have been the first snow of the coming autumn season. I guess summer is almost over in the North country.

July 2010

THINGS have been pretty wonderful this spring on the island. The weather has been mild and rainy; thus: the hillsides are lush and green and inviting. I had the pleasure of observing Sage Grouse strutting in May. I have shared those pictures taken with you.
